Star Trek: Into Darkness - Major Plot Hole (Spoilers, Obviously)

duralaster
One of the major plot holes listed for Star Trek: Into Darkness asks why they needed to specifically have Khan's blood to save Kirk when they could have used any of Khan's 72 crew members.
They go on to explain that it was so that there would be a "cool boss battle" in the movie.
But I have a couple of questions...

First - How do we know that Khan isn't the only genetically-engineered member of his crew?
Secondly - Didn't Bones say that he didn't understand the technology and if they tried to revive any one of the crew that it could kill them?

there is a Minor Plot Hole listed:
Minor Plot hole: The Enterprise gets pushed-out of warp speed by the USS Vengeance 237,000 km away from Earth – which seems far until you realize it's the distance between the moon and the Earth."

If the Enterprise was that close to Earth, why hadn't it already dropped out of warp? Travelling at millions of miles a second, wasn't the Enterprise about to overshoot the planet so didn't the Vengence do the job of a lacks navigational officer?

You are absolutely correct, laster, but it doesn't matter. The "space speak" here was merely a plot device to allow us to watch a fist fight betwwen Spock and Khan. I believe it is more of a plot contrivance.
What Star Trek movie would be complete without a good fist fight.
Plot hole or not, entirely worth the price of admission.

As far Major Plot Holes go Star Trek into Darkness was full of them:

- After a major terrorist attack on an important Starfleet research facility, the Admirality board, many of which member know of the secrets behind the attacker, convenes in a location that has less security than the average fashion shop in Rome (I wish I was kidding but when Olympus Has Fallen feels realistic compared to your movie something is wrong).

- Everyone at Starfleet completely ignore a space battle between two of their own ships right next to Earth.

- Continuing on that roll they ignore the flagship of the Federation that is tumbling towards the Earth AND the Vengeance which is on a direct collision course with.

Also if the chain of event that unfolded genuinely was Khan's plan it is in Super Plot Hole since Da Silva's plot in Skyfall is absolutely practical compared to it.

Then again it is still better than the original Star Trek reboot where Starfleet is casually ignoring the drill which is going for the core of the Earth. The drill which they know is hostile and which can be destroyed with handheld weapons if the needs arises.

Also, why, when they were only a few thousand kilometers away from Earth, were they able to have a quick chat with Old-Spock way out on some other world, yet just moments ago they couldn't send a distress call (especially with a recorded message of the Admiral basically admitting everything) to a planet which is just a hop, skip and a pratfall away.

Separately, on a more scientific note, they were next to The Moon, yet fall toward the Earth... unless it was the explosion which propelled them toward the blue marble.  If so, the travel time should have been days or hours at the least, else the sort of multiple-gigaton explosion that could propel them at hundreds of thousands of kilometers per hour would have destroyed them.
